Why Proxwell makes sense for Government

Busy city street with tall buildings, yellow cabs, and pedestrians.

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, referred to as the Affordable Care Act (“ACA”), is the comprehensive health care reform law enacted in March 2010. Proxwell will advance achievement of these innovations in health reform as envisioned by the ACA. Of relevance are coordination of care and promotion of prevention and wellness. Improving care coordination alone could go a long way toward improving outcomes, improving safety, decreasing waste, and decreasing overall cost to the system.

Many of the innovations in healthcare delivery since the passage of the ACA have focused on increasing access and reducing friction:

  • Telemedicine platforms

  • Health / wellness apps

  • IoT wearables

  • Placement / matching services for healthcare providers and patients

  • Pharmacy-on-demand solutions

  • In-home monitoring.

In addition to these developments, health insurance companies and retail pharmacies are making significant acquisitions in assisted living centers, home healthcare services, and acute care / retail clinics with the goal of consolidating patient care while improving access.

Proxwell is a cloud-enabled healthtech app that works on multiple devices (mobile and desktop) and utilizes multiple channels (emails, text messages, in-app notifications, in-app chat) to coordinate and track patient care among multiple constituents. All medical activities (medication regimen, measurements such as blood sugar and blood pressure) and physician-recommended activities of daily life (such as exercise, sleep, meal schedules) are scheduled and organized so that they can be scheduled, fulfilled, and tracked in a single source of truth available to all people involved in the care of the patient. Critically, all constituents can easily document observations of the patient that are out of the ordinary – this tracking will enable faster review and intervention before an adverse health condition manifest fully.

By coordinating patient care across constituents and fostering accountability for care among all involved, including the patient, Proxwell will encourage adherence to recommended treatments (medication, testing/monitoring, and activities of daily life). Adherence to therapy is the single best way to improve medical outcomes, and improved medical outcomes will result in systemically lower costs of healthcare.
